The Discs

The first disc, Trombonis Australis presents an all Australian program with works by Simon Wade, Phillip Bolliger, Nerida Tyson-Chew and two works by Michael Forsyth. Included are two works specifically written for the alto trombone.

The second in the series is Capriccio. It follows on from Trombonis Australis, by presenting a program of new Australian works by Micheal Irik and Eric Gross along with rarely heard European works for trombone and piano. Featured are recordings of the Bonneau Capriccio, Salzedo Piece Concertante and the Hindemith Sonata for alto horn performed on alto trombone.

In conjunction with the release of Capriccio a promotional disc of Graham Powning’s Four Inequale, each of these four encore pieces reflecting the composer’s renowned sense of humour and presents a celebrated orchestral trombone passage in a light hearted fashion, with some amusing rhythmic manipulation and harmonic twists.

The most recent Trombonis Australis Project album release has been Harlequinade, which features solo and ensemble works by Michael Forsyth.

Greg has also recorded for the JADE and MUSO’S MEDIA label with chamber and solo recordings of Australian repertoire. Jade’s most recent release involving brass has been Fading Light, which includes two works by Eric Gross -

Cadenza XI
for unaccompanied alto trombone
and
Plectrobone I
